To celebrate the World Heritage Week an online lecture was organised by Bihar Heritage Development Society on 23rd November, 2022. The speaker was Dr. Kurush Dalal , Director of INSTUCEN, Mumbai (India Study Centre) and he spoke on The Excavations at Chandore, Maharashtra: An exercise in Public Archaeology. In 2011 Medieval Temple site of Chandore in the Mangaon Taluka of the Raigad District of Maharashtra was discovered by the team. The site showed an enormous potential for a systematic exploration driven small -scale excavation in a time period and region where little work if any had been previously done. Realising the problems of working in the Konkan Region, the team instituted special introductory and confidence building measures with the population of the village of Chandore. The talk gave an insight into the methods of excavation, site settings and also the findings at the site. The talk was attended by 41 participants and an interesting discussion followed the lecture.
